Setting Life Goals

Planning your future involves envisioning your goals, creating a roadmap, and taking actionable steps to achieve them. Life is never straight forward and the concept plan will be modified several times in your life, but it is at least a concept plan and general direction to move in.

 Start by reflecting on what matters most to you. This can be a spider-diagram, mood board, journal entry or just a thought process, but putting it into some thing visual and tangible like some form of writing makes it more real. Consider your passions, values, and aspirations. Think about the areas of your life you'd like to focus on, such as career, relationships, health, finances, or personal growth.

Create a dream picture of where you would like to be 5 years from now, 10 years from now and 15 years from now. Look at your needs (positive non-negotiables), wants (negotiables) and redline/no-go areas (negative non-negotiables). Prioritize your goals by deciding which ones are most important to you. Set deadlines for these milestones to give yourself structure and motivation

Now tweak it and adapt it to be slightly more realistic (e.g. getting a horse instead of a unicorn, climbing Mt Snowdon instead of Mt Kilimanjaro, three weeks traveling instead of 3 month etc) to match your age, budget, family responsibilities and health restrictions,  

Once you have a sense of direction create a road map of how to get there. Write down your long-term goals and break them into smaller, manageable steps. and list of things you need to do, e.g. retrain and qualify, increase fitness levels, invest money etc.

Consider cultivating habits that support your progress, such as developing time management skills, practicing self-discipline, or seeking guidance from mentors. Surround yourself with supportive people who encourage and inspire you to achieve your dreams.

It is also important to prepare for challenges and setbacks. Building resilience and staying adaptable will help you navigate obstacles along the way. Celebrate your achievements, big or small, to stay motivated and recognize how far you've come.

Regularly revisit and adjust your plan as circumstances evolve; flexibility is key to staying on track.
